A Pig's Tale: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.
While perhaps not at the same level as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a second term in office.
“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a long and happy life away from worry.”
The gathering, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The pig, donated by a local firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six seven” – originating from a musical verse – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so widespread that a prominent word reference recently made “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A Future Secured
Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.
“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.
“It embodies the spirit of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Annually, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”
Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and cafecito as they toasted the pig's pardon.
