It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point Healy was underway.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.
