Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Matchup Against defending champion Dodgers
George Springer contributed to the Astros securing the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team advanced to their initial championship series since 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the ALCS.
Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh, guiding the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.
"I'm just so happy for everyone here, our city, our country," said Springer, a star of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now hit 23 October home runs, ranking him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another player anywhere that I'd choose in that situation besides George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.
Seattle's team, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the one club that has never reached in a World Series.
Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's painful" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but applauded their efforts in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we finished on the losing end of the series," he added.
Toronto's team secured the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
