Individual Who Reached For Ariana Grande during Film Launch Prohibited from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality that leaped past a barrier and touched celebrity Ariana Grande has been sent away and banned from Singapore.
The man, aged 26, was handed a penalty to more than a week in prison for being a public nuisance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," Singaporean immigration authorities stated to Singaporean press.
Wen pushed through camera crews and rushed toward the celebrity, who was attending the Asian debut for Wicked: For Good on 13 November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.
He has a background of disrupting concerts and star-studded occasions, including leaping onto the platform at the pop star's Australian show in the past June.
The event caused anger in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of triggering past trauma for the singer.
The pop star has spoken of experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist bombing at her show in Manchester in several years ago took the lives of 22 people and injured hundreds.
Throughout the court proceedings, the court heard he had tried to gain access on the film's premiere on two occasions, according to local news sources.
He then made a second attempt to jump the barricades. Protection personnel prevented him and held him in place.
The man subsequently shared video clips thanking Grande for letting him on the carpet and said he was "released."
Authorities arrested him the subsequent day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which he confessed.
The Court Judge the judicial official was quoted by Channel News Asia as stating that the man sought attention, commenting that he was incorrect to think he would not face any penalties.
The singer has not addressed the situation.
The co-star spoke about the incident to NBC, saying that she "only aimed to verify my colleague was safe."
"I think he had no intention to us harm, but you never know with those things, and I sought to ensure that she was fine. That was my immediate response," she said.
