President Trump Calls Families of Attacked Guard Members to the Presidential Residence
Former President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.
He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Background on the Tragic Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.
Memorials across the state have been held in their remembrance.

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community members came together over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both they had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

“Sarah was the individual that educators hoped for. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the principal of her alma mater, informed the media. “She was caring, caring and always eager to help others.”

Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The incident prompted the government to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop providing visas to owners of travel documents.
Condition of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor the governor mentioned on a news program.

Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the gathering at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
